About Contours Rx

Contours Rx specializes in cosmetic products that promote youthful “age-defying eyes.” The product line is designed to offer a safe, non-surgical alternative to standard beauty regimens. All of the products are made of medical-grade, hypoallergenic materials.

Though the brand is now international, it began ten years ago at Britain’s dining room table, where she mapped out a set of ideas that would one day soon take her and her products worldwide. 

Britain’s Journey

Britain Todd's journey into entrepreneurship began over a decade ago when she decided to prove herself as a business owner. Despite working in an unrelated field, she created a product to fill a personal need she couldn't find in the market. "It started with me sitting at my dining room table and designing the products we have today," Britain explains.

Initially, Britain sold her products to local retailers and medical offices. Her big break came when HSN, a major TV shopping network in the US, approached her.

Despite her fear of being on television, this opportunity catapulted her company into the spotlight, gaining worldwide recognition. "Years later, I went international and took that journey through QVC international and seven other networks worldwide," Britain recalls. This expansion led to extensive travel and marked her company's growth from a dining room project to an international brand.

Team Configuration

Britain Todd describes how the pandemic reshaped Contours Rx's work structure, transitioning the company to a fully remote operation. "Our team works remotely from all over the globe, from West Coast to East Coast and even overseas," she explains. This shift has allowed the company to maintain a diverse and talented workforce spanning different regions.

Despite missing the in-person interactions of office life, Britain finds joy in the new arrangement. She emphasizes the positive impact on her team's work-life balance, particularly for working mothers.

"There's no better feeling, especially as a mother, to be there for your children and family members rather than being stuck in a distant office location," Britain notes. This flexible approach has enabled team members to juggle professional responsibilities and personal commitments, even participating in conference calls while caring for their children at home. A healthy work-life balance is vital to a better work environment and less stress, and hopefully, it will lead us all to be our best selves.”

Business Growth and Revenue Strategies

Britain Todd highlights Contours Rx's focus on innovation, bringing first-of-their-kind products to market. "Many of our products are innovative products that have never been on the market before," she explains.

This commitment to innovation has fostered long-term customer relationships, with some clients staying with the company for its 10-year history. These loyal customers have played a crucial role in refining products and identifying new market opportunities.

Going Forward

Looking to the future, Britain outlines ambitious goals for her company. She aims to continue product innovation while expanding the brand and listening closely to customer needs.

A key objective is to bring all aspects of the business in-house, growing the internal team rather than relying on external partners.

Britain also shares the company's financial targets: "Our new goal to reach in 2025 is $20 million." However, she emphasizes that success isn't just about revenue; it’s about our customers, introducing new products to the market, and building on their incredible team."

Britain emphasizes the central role of customer service in Contours Rx's business philosophy. "We're very passionate about our customer service," she states.

For Britain, exceptional customer service is rooted in active listening and a positive experience throughout the customer journey.

This customer-centric approach extends beyond just providing quality products and services. Britain explains that many product innovations stem directly from customer feedback, underscoring its value on customer input.

 She also notes the transition from customers to clients, saying, "We have repeat customers, and that's really when they become part of our family and clients."

Britain emphasizes the importance of maintaining focus and holding onto one's vision, even in the face of skepticism. "Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do it. You can absolutely do it," she asserts. Britain places high value on creativity and passion, qualities she believes can't be taught but are crucial for success.

Her philosophy extends beyond just starting a business; it's about making an impact. Britain encourages entrepreneurs to be first to market and to recognize their potential to influence many lives.
